Wind for Goods is the leading international event dedicated to wind-powered and decarbonized maritime transport.
The Nantes–Saint-Nazaire region benefits from a technological edge and a supportive ecosystem, enabling the eco-friendly maritime transport sector to structure and grow.
Since its launch in Nantes Saint-Nazaire in 2021, Wind for Goods has been supporting the emergence of an innovative industry by bringing together industrial, institutional, academic, and economic stakeholders committed to transforming maritime transport. The event showcases concrete solutions in wind propulsion and innovations aimed at reducing the sector’s carbon footprint.
Designed as a unifying event, it highlights the entire ecosystem: engineering companies, shipowners, equipment manufacturers, industrial players, shippers, business networks, competitiveness clusters, research and training institutions, investors, and policymakers. Together, they collaborate to share key advances, create synergies, and support the scaling up of the sector.
Wind for Goods brings together 1,000 visitors from 35 nationalities and over 70 exhibitors, fostering exchanges, partnerships, and business opportunities. It also helps position Nantes Saint-Nazaire as a leading hub for sustainable maritime transport.
In a context of climate urgency and transformation in the maritime sector, Wind for Goods has become a must-attend event to imagine and build the future of wind-powered cargo transport.
Wind for Goods is an event supported by the French Ministry for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forests, the Sea and Fisheries and has been awarded the “La Mer en Commun” label as part of the Year of the Sea 2025.
Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement, a responsible economic development agency, has been organizing the Wind for Goods event since 2021—the only national event dedicated to wind-powered maritime transport.
Nantes Saint-Nazaire Développement is dedicated to fostering the responsible economic development of the Nantes and Saint-Nazaire area. It works to bring together, attract, and promote impact-driven economic players across the territory, particularly within the following priority ecosystems: decarbonized industry and energy, maritime economy, reuse and circular economy, global health, and sustainable business tourism.
Over the past 10 years, the agency has supported more than 750 companies and contributed to the creation of over 10,000 jobs in the region.
In 2024, it became France’s first mission-driven economic development agency and expanded its governance to include around ten local organizations, in order to better support the territory’s economic, social, and environmental transformations. Funded by Nantes Métropole, Saint-Nazaire Agglomération, and the Nantes St-Nazaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the agency now has a team of 33 employees.
